About The Position

Volvo Group is seeking a Senior Commodity Buyer to join their team. This role is responsible for the Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Features (QDCF) of suppliers within their owned commodity segment. The position involves implementing the segment business plan through supplier selection and continuously securing supplier QDCF performance. The role is based in Greensboro, NC, and reports to the Head of Extended Parts Offering Purchasing North America. Requirements

  • 6+ years of strategic purchasing (e.g. end-to-end supplier relationship management, sourcing, negotiations, contracts) experience, or related internal experience
  • Experience within the heavy manufacturing industry
  • Proven negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen, agile in way of working
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team towards a common purpose
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent working experience)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status

Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance, enhanced product quality, innovative technology, and maximum value
  • Drive negotiations and executive agreements with suppliers within your commodity segment
  • Contribute to segment business plan and be an active member in the global network of Buyers
  • Collaborate with other members of the global supply chain to successfully develop and execute global supply chain and technology strategies
  • Use Volvo Performance System (VPS) toolbox to drive efficiency across the supply chain
  • Drive all relevant activities to deliver on Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Features targets (QDCF)
  • Monitor, identify, and mitigate risks in cooperation with the Supply Network Quality (SNQ) team
  • Forecast cost evolution for scope of responsibility
  • Manage and negotiate product/processes changes
  • Perform daily purchasing activities related to production orders, logistics, and financial flows to the suppliers
