About The Position

Volvo Group is seeking a Commodity Buyer to be responsible for the Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Features (QDCF) of suppliers within their owned commodity segment. The role involves implementing the segment business plan through supplier selection and continuously securing supplier QDCF performance. This position is based in Greensboro, NC, and reports to the Head of Extended Parts Offering Purchasing North America. Requirements

  • 3+ years of strategic purchasing (e.g. end-to-end supplier relationship management, sourcing, negotiations, contracts), business development (client relationship management, negotiations, etc.), or related internal experience
  • Experience within the manufacturing industry
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Strong business acumen, agile in way of working
  • Desire to work in a collaborative team towards a common purpose
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or related field (or equivalent working experience)
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States, and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status

Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance, enhanced product quality, innovative technology, and maximum value
  • Drive negotiations and executive agreements with suppliers within your commodity segment
  • Contribute to segment business plan & be an active member in the global network of Buyers
  • Collaborate with other members of the global supply chain to successfully develop and execute global supply chain and technology strategies
  • Use Volvo Performance System (VPS) toolbox to drive efficiency across the supply chain
  • Drive all relevant activities to deliver on Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Features targets (QDCF)
  • Monitor, identify, and mitigate risks in cooperation with the Supply Network Quality (SNQ) team
  • Forecast cost evolution for scope of responsibility
  • Manage and negotiate product/processes changes
  • Perform daily purchasing activities related to aftermarket orders, logistics, and financial flows to the suppliers
