About The Position

ZF Active Safety US Inc. has job openings for the position of Senior Commodity Buyer. This role involves managing the assigned supply base and driving cost-saving initiatives to enhance business unit productivity and supplier competitiveness. Key responsibilities include strategic supplier analysis, contract negotiation, sourcing optimization, supplier management, and adherence to company policies. The position also requires developing and maintaining part family strategies based on global targets, driving initiatives to meet savings plans, and applying total cost management methods. The Senior Commodity Buyer will serve as the lead contact for negotiations, define, negotiate, and manage purchasing contracts and supply agreements, and analyze the supply base to recommend supplier changes. The role also involves conducting Global Competitive Sourcing (GCS) benchmarking, managing the supply base in relation to internal and intra-company initiatives, adhering to the defined sourcing process, and preparing sourcing cases for approval. A hybrid work schedule is available.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or closely related field
  • 4 years of experience in a professional purchasing capacity
  • Demonstrated experience with Supplier analysis and evaluation
  • Demonstrated experience with Supplier quoting process and complex negotiations
  • Demonstrated experience with APQP process
  • Demonstrated experience with Excel Analytics, Power BI, SAP, and ERP
  • Demonstrated experience with Cold Form manufacturing standards including IATF, ISO and ASTM
  • Demonstrated experience with Engineering part drawings
  • Demonstrated experience with Sourcing Management using Axalant and Windchill software
  • Demonstrated experience with ABC Analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with Fishbone Analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with VA/VE
  • Demonstrated experience with GCS benchmarking

Responsibilities

  • Manage the assigned supply base and drive cost-saving initiatives to enhance business unit productivity and supplier competitiveness.
  • Conduct strategic supplier analysis, contract negotiation, sourcing optimization, supplier management, and adherence to company policies and directives.
  • Develop and maintain part family strategies based on global targets and requirements.
  • Drive initiatives to meet or exceed annual commercial targets and savings plans.
  • Manage annual savings planning and negotiation follow-up for assigned suppliers.
  • Apply total cost management and cost structure analysis methods, for example, ABC analysis, Pain Points Analysis.
  • Update tracking tools according to industry best practices and company policies.
  • Develop and implement cost-saving methods to boost business unit productivity and supplier competitiveness using techniques such as Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), competitive quoting, independent negotiations, and resourcing.
  • Serve as the lead contact for negotiations with defined suppliers.
  • Define, negotiate, and manage purchasing contracts, supply and warranty agreements, and other legal documentation.
  • Analyze the supply base by using history and live data to recommend suppliers for addition or phase out from the approved supplier list.
  • Nominate suppliers for the Strategic Supplier List together.
  • Conduct Global Competitive Sourcing (GCS) benchmarking to identify alternative suppliers aligned with BPG targets.
  • Manage supply base in relation to internal and intra-company initiatives.
  • Adhere to the defined sourcing process per company policy.
  • Prepare sourcing cases in collaboration with all supply chain departments and present them to approval personnels for sourcing approval.
