About The Position

The Senior Commercial Roofing Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates for large, complex commercial roofing projects, including new construction and roof replacement. Based out of West Haven, CT, this role supports projects throughout the New England region and focuses primarily on private, negotiated work, with some competitive bid opportunities. This position requires a high level of technical expertise across all major roofing systems and manufacturers, along with experience in vendor coordination and contract negotiation. The estimator plays a key role in the front end of project development, analyzing drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define scope and prepare detailed cost estimates that support company revenue and margin goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a commercial roofing estimator
  • Experience working on large, complex commercial roofing projects
  • Strong knowledge of all major commercial roofing systems and manufacturers
  • Experience working with vendors and supporting pricing and contract negotiations
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • 5–10+ years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with Edge Estimating software strongly preferred
  • Experience with CRM tools such as Salesforce or HubSpot

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in reviewing drawings, specifications, and bid documents to fully understand project scope and requirements
  • Build detailed take-offs and develop accurate, competitive estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work
  • Work directly with vendors, manufacturers, and subcontractors to gather pricing, confirm system details, and ensure complete coverage
  • Play an active role in scope alignment and support contract and pricing negotiations on negotiated work
  • Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities within each project and clearly outline assumptions and exclusions
  • Contribute ideas around value engineering, helping improve cost efficiency without sacrificing quality or performance
  • Partner closely with sales, operations, and project management teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimate to execution
  • Visit job sites as needed to verify field conditions and strengthen the accuracy of your estimates
  • Stay organized with all bid documentation and maintain clear records within company systems
  • Support team growth by sharing knowledge and helping maintain consistent estimating standards
