About The Position

This is a hybrid opportunity and this role requires onsite in-office presence 3 days per week at our office in New York City. Applicants must be located within a commutable distance to New York City. We’re seeking a Senior Underwriter with a strong background in commercial lines insurance to market new and renewal accounts and effectively communicate with carriers.

Requirements

• Associate Degree or higher, plus 5 years of relevant commercial Property & Casualty underwriting experience. Additional 2 years of commercial P&C underwriting experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
• Must have the ability to react and respond quickly and professionally.
• Must provide creative, analytical, and innovative thinking to inure to productive problem-solving.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Excess and Surplus Lines experience is highly preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Mandarin) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates information to determine risk acceptability in accordance with company guidelines.
• Makes appropriate decisions based on the evaluation of underwriting information.
• Effectively communicates and negotiates underwriting and pricing decisions to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Documents decisions in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Acts with a sense of urgency on all inquiries/requests.
• Provides outstanding customer service.
• Underwrites a moderate book of business with a moderate to complex risk profile.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
