About The Position

The Honors College Recruiter plans and implements recruiting activities for prospective Honors College students and their families, contacting and meeting with prospects about UNT, and helping students decide on UNT. The HCR also: 1) serves as chair of the Honors College admissions committee; 2) helps to plan and carry out freshman and transfer orientations; 3) represents the Honors College at numerous events; 4) plans and presents numerous programs on behalf of the Honors College; and, 5) works collaboratively with other colleges, as well as the Division of Admissions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of experience in recruiting, academic advising, academic counseling, student services, or related experience or can substitute education for experience.
  • Strong presentation skills and problem solving skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to obtain credit card for travel.
  • Good driving record and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Professional in appearance, motivated, self-directed and have the ability and willingness to communicate enthusiastically with populations in a positive, courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to travel (may be extensive).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and assess strategic recruitment initiatives designed to attract high-achieving students to the University of North Texas and the Honors College.
  • Represent the Honors College at university recruitment events, admissions programs, college fairs, transfer recruitment activities, campus visits, admitted student programs, and other outreach events.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with high schools, community colleges, scholarship programs, and university partners to increase awareness of the Honors College and strengthen recruitment pipelines for prospective students.
  • Meet with prospective students, families, school counselors, and community college representatives to communicate the academic opportunities, benefits, admissions requirements, and expectations associated with Honors College membership while providing individualized guidance throughout the recruitment process.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve recruitment yield by increasing the number of admitted students who enroll at UNT and activate their Honors College membership.
  • Track and analyze recruitment, admissions, enrollment, and yield data to evaluate recruitment effectiveness and recommend continuous improvements.
  • Coordinate all administrative aspects of the Honors College admissions process, including application management, admissions committee operations, applicant communications, admissions decisions, and the implementation of established admissions policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the Honors College's participation in freshman and transfer New Student Orientation by organizing orientation communications, presentations, open house events, attendance tracking, and transition initiatives that support successful onboarding and engagement of incoming Honors students.
  • Represent the Honors College on university committees related to orientation and new student transition.
  • Develop, update, and coordinate Honors College recruitment publications, presentations, promotional materials, digital communications, and other outreach resources in collaboration with the Honors College marketing team to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication with prospective students and their families.
  • Collaborate with Enrollment Management, Undergraduate Admissions, academic colleges, Student Affairs, Orientation, Visitor Experience, and other campus partners to advance shared recruitment, enrollment, and student success initiatives while representing the interests of the Honors College.
  • Collaborate with the University on recruitment efforts for highly qualified student populations, including National Merit Finalists, Excellence Scholars, Texas Leadership Scholars, Terry Scholars, transfer students, and other academically talented student groups.
  • Prepare reports, analyze enrollment trends, and assess recruitment and admissions initiatives to support strategic planning, operational decision-making, and continuous improvement efforts within the Honors College.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Honors College's recruitment, admissions, enrollment, orientation, and student success initiatives.
