About The Position

U-Haul is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to join its IT team and support critical Banking and Accounting applications. The role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing existing batch applications in a z/OS mainframe environment. The successful candidate will bring experience with COBOL, JCL, Syncsort, and VSAM, and an understanding of banking transactions, electronic funds transfers, and general ledger accounting processes. The position involves collaboration with technical teams and business partners in support of essential financial operations.

Requirements

Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to absorb complex batch process flows.
Five years of experience with COBOL, JCL, Syncsort, and VSAM in a z/OS environment.
Three years of experience with banking applications using EFT processing such as ACH.
Three years of experience with accounting applications, with an emphasis on General Ledger.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Bank vs. Book reconciliation applications.
Experience with Credit Card and Online Check processing applications.

Responsibilities

Maintain existing Banking and Accounting batch applications.
Work in an Agile development environment with two-week sprints.
Perform problem analysis and resolution, with some on-call responsibility.
Document new and existing processes at the system, job, and program levels.
Participate in one-on-one training provided by subject matter experts.
Protect operations by keeping sensitive information confidential.
Work across teams, including Java and .NET Development, Production Support, and various Business Units.
