About The Position

The Cobol Developer analyzes technical and business procedures and assists in developing detailed specifications for software programs. The role develops, codes, tests, debugs, maintains, modifies, and installs computer software, and recommends major changes to procedures and software development activities. The developer leads work on complex applications, researches and implements changes to financial software products, and analyzes specifications for new or enhanced applications to ensure compatibility with other systems. The position also contributes to technical standards, strategic planning, and translating ideas into technical designs.

This is a full-time, direct-hire, on-site position in Lincoln, Nebraska, Monday through Friday. The role is not eligible to be performed in Colorado, California, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Maine, or Washington. Candidates must already have valid, unrestricted U.S. work authorization; sponsorship is not available.

Requirements

• 6 or more years of software development experience.
• Desire to learn mainframe technologies and development languages such as COBOL.
• Knowledge of software design patterns, development, data modeling, and SOLID principles.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices, tooling, and remediation.
• Experience with source management tools such as Git and TFS.
• Ability to resolve architectural problems involving scalability, performance, reliability, usability, and security.
• Must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization; candidates requiring sponsorship now or in the future will not be considered.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) and automated functional testing.
• Familiarity with Agile methodology, Jira, and/or Confluence.
• Use of scripting and DevOps practices, including CI/CD processes and containerization.
• Interest in or experience with the financial industry.

Responsibilities
