About The Position

The Azure Dedicated (AzD) team is seeking a Cloud Network Engineer to build, scale, and operate networking infrastructure for Azure Dedicated private and hybrid cloud solutions. The role involves working with technologies and partners including VMware, Nutanix, NetApp, Arista, Cisco, and HPE, and collaborating with Azure Compute, Storage, Networking, and Security teams.

The position focuses on designing, implementing, and managing end-to-end network architectures for Azure Dedicated environments; integrating third-party platforms with Azure networking services; and optimizing performance, reliability, and security in large-scale cloud environments. It also contributes to live-site operations, automation, observability, and customer scenarios such as workload migration, hybrid connectivity, and disaster recovery.

Candidates should be self-starters with a growth mindset, a collaborative approach, strong communication, and a willingness to address technical challenges as part of an engineering team. Microsoft Cloud Background Check screening is required upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Requirements

• Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or a master's degree in one of these fields and 3+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation; or a bachelor's degree in one of these fields and 4+ years of such experience; or equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• Doctorate in a listed or related field and 3+ years of technical experience in network design, development, and automation; or a master's degree and 6+ years; or a bachelor's degree and 8+ years; or equivalent experience.
• 1+ year of experience delivering network designs into production and live-site accountability for a network.
• Foundation in networking concepts including BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, MPLS, SDN, IPsec, and routing and switching architectures.
• 1+ years of experience with Azure Networking (VNet, ExpressRoute, Private Link, UDRs, VPN, NSGs) or equivalent cloud networking services.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise network devices such as Cisco, Arista, or Juniper, and automation tools such as Ansible, Python, Terraform, or PowerShell.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in hybrid or multi-cloud environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage end-to-end network architectures for Azure Dedicated environments, including hybrid connectivity, ExpressRoute, and SDN-based solutions.
• Integrate and validate third-party platforms such as VMware and Nutanix with Azure networking services.
• Optimize network performance, reliability, and security across large-scale, mission-critical cloud environments.
• Collaborate with internal Azure teams and external partners to define standards, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive service improvements.
• Contribute to live-site operations, automation, and observability initiatives to improve uptime and reduce manual interventions.
• Enable workload migration, hybrid connectivity, and disaster recovery customer scenarios through networking designs and automation.
