About The Position

As a Senior Cloud Network Engineer on the Azure Dedicated Team, you will design and operate network fabrics for traditional Ethernet networks and backend networks such as RDMA and InfiniBand, supporting the development and integration of next-generation AI workloads on Azure. You will create highly reliable and resilient designs and work with customers, industry vendors, third-party providers, and Microsoft colleagues to develop and operate networks handling petabits-per-second levels of traffic. The role involves integrating network stacks and topologies with Azure’s planetary-scale networks, resolving production service issues, and developing reliable, secure, scalable, high-performance network designs. You will independently create design documents and implementation plans, lead reviews across teams, and participate in on-call and DRI duties. Microsoft describes its mission as empowering every person and organization to achieve more, and highlights a growth mindset, innovation, collaboration, respect, integrity, accountability, and inclusion.

  • 1+ year of experience in a large-scale network ecosystem, owning design and end-to-end delivery standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build deep partnerships with third parties to integrate network stacks and topologies with Azure networks through well-understood, documented designs.
  • Triage, troubleshoot, repair, and identify root causes of service-impacting issues involving physical network components and features, including device operating systems.
  • Diagnose and address issues with management tools and processes, including root-cause analysis, trend analysis, postmortems, preventive repair items, and change management.
  • Troubleshoot low-level APIs and register sets, and implement automated, long-term, secure, sustainable solutions with minimal or no customer disruption.
  • Participate in on-call and DRI duties to resolve production incidents and guide other engineers through triage, troubleshooting, and resolution.
  • Collaborate across teams to develop reliable, secure, scalable, high-performance network designs.
  • Independently produce design documents and implementation plans, such as migration plans.
