About The Position

Senior Project Leads are integral to clinical trial delivery, working with clinical teams to help bring new drugs to market faster. The Senior Project Lead is an essential core project team member who leads the team and is responsible for delivering clinical studies in accordance with contractual requirements, SOPs, policies, and practices. Clinical Project Management focuses on delivery, productivity, quality, financial performance, and customer satisfaction. Clinical Project Leads manage their own studies, leveraging therapeutic expertise and IQVIA’s solutions to promote operational excellence and provide strategic leadership to customers.

The role leads the strategic planning and execution of medium to large, multiple, full-service, multi-regional studies. It owns the primary customer relationship and coordinates cross-functional teams to achieve milestones, manage risks and issues, maintain quality, and ensure financial success. The position also supports business development activities, manages scope and change control, promotes continuous improvement, and mentors project team members.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or a related field.
• More than 7 years of clinical research experience, including 4 years of project management experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Advanced knowledge of the job area and broad knowledge of related job areas, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
• Knowledge of clinical trial conduct and ability to apply ICH GCP and relevant local laws, regulations, and guidelines to clinical trials.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, good command of English, and strong presentation skills.
• Strong negotiation and customer management skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lead through others to deliver results to appropriate quality and timeline metrics; monitor and manage performance, provide feedback, and partner effectively across functions and with customers.

Responsibilities

• Participate in bid defense preparations and lead bid defense presentations with Business Development for multiple-service, multiple-country, and/or multi-regional studies; understand the project strategy and operationalize the agreed approach.
• Develop integrated study management plans with the core project team.
• Lead strategic planning and execution of clinical studies according to contract, optimizing delivery speed, quality, and cost while ensuring consistent use of study tools and training materials and compliance with standard processes, policies, and procedures.
• Set objectives for the core project team according to the agreed contract, strategy, and approach; communicate objectives and assess performance.
• Collaborate with other company functional groups to support milestone achievement and manage study issues and obstacles.
• Monitor progress against contract and proactively prepare and present project information to internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage delivery of medium to large, multiple, full-service, multi-regional studies.
• Proactively manage positive and negative risks and contingencies, and lead problem solving and resolution efforts.
• Achieve project quality by identifying quality risks and issues, responding to issues raised by team members, and planning and implementing appropriate corrective and preventive action plans.
• Serve as the primary project contact for the customer and own relationships with key project customer contacts.
• Communicate and collaborate with IQVIA business development representatives as needed.
• Build and lead the cross-functional project team, manage core-team collaboration, and ensure overall project delivery and milestone achievement.
• Ensure the financial success of the project.
• Forecast and identify opportunities to accelerate activities and bring revenue forward.
• Identify scope changes and manage the change-control process as needed.
• Identify and communicate lessons learned and best practices to promote continuous improvement.
• Adopt corporate initiatives and changes and act as a change advocate when necessary.
• Provide line managers with input on project team members’ performance on project tasks and support staff development.
• Mentor less experienced project team members to support their professional development.
