About The Position

An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are looking to recruit Senior Clinical Coders with enthusiasm and motivation to join our dedicated and friendly team. We are able to offer a hybrid working pattern, with all coders currently working from home 4 days a week. We are looking for candidates who are ACC qualified and who have experience coding across a wide range of specialities within an Acute NHS Trust. You should have a sound knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, be able to demonstrate competency in the use of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications, be proficient in the use of digital systems and have a thorough understanding of national clinical coding standards and conventions. The NCCQ (National Clinical Coding Qualification) is preferred and considered essential to apply for this post; however, we are open to considering applicants who have relevant experience and are working toward the NCCQ qualification. The ideal candidates will possess excellent analytical and judgement skills, be methodical with a high degree of accuracy and excellent attention to detail; you will need to be a team player who can manage your own workload whilst contributing to meeting local and national deadlines. You will have strong interpersonal and organisational skills and will be expected to develop effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels. The role will require some interaction and collaboration with clinical and divisional staff to ensure data is accurately recorded in accordance with national standards.

Requirements

ACC qualified
Experience coding across a wide range of specialities within an Acute NHS Trust
Sound knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology
Competency in the use of ICD-10 and OPCS-4 classifications
Proficient in the use of digital systems
Thorough understanding of national clinical coding standards and conventions
Excellent analytical and judgement skills
Methodical with a high degree of accuracy and excellent attention to detail
Team player who can manage own workload whilst contributing to meeting local and national deadlines

Nice To Haves

NCCQ (National Clinical Coding Qualification) is preferred
Relevant experience and working toward the NCCQ qualification

Responsibilities

Contribute to the provision of a high quality clinical coding team supporting the business and clinical needs of the Trust by ensuring accurate and timely translation and input of medical terminology.
Support validation and data quality improvement work, liaising with clinical teams and managers.
Act as a mentor and support trainee clinical coders.
Deal with complex coding queries.
