About The Position

Performs complex audits in assigned areas of the Health System under limited oversight of the audit leader, in accordance with audit programs to assess the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, business unit processes, and UH policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Proven experience working in a collaborative, team-focused environment.
  • Proven experience breaking down large projects into smaller tasks and delegate accordingly.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with all levels within the organization.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to identify and influence process improvements with management
  • Proven ability to deliver expected project outcomes in an accurate and timely manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using data analytical and sampling techniques.
  • 3+ years work experience in audit or related field.
  • Prior nursing or clinical experience.
  • Knowledge of internal audit concepts (e.g., risk and control identification and documentation, fraud risk assessments).
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio
  • Certification in area of audit discipline
  • CMAS

Responsibilities

  • Plans the daily activities in the performance of internal audits.
  • Partner with management to review the process under audit in order to identify sound recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepares clear, concise, and accurate work papers in a timely manner and according to departmental guidelines.
  • Prepares written audit findings and recommendations in a logical, clear, and concise manner for discussion with management.
  • Reviews management action plans and verifies that identified risks have been mitigated.
  • Serve as team member and assist on UH initiatives, as needed.
  • Participate in the annual risk assessment process in order to identify risks and potential audits for inclusion in the annual audit plan.
  • Lead opening, closing, and ad-hoc presentations to management as needed.
  • Work with department leadership to identify and implement improvements to Internal Audit core processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
