About The Position

S&ME is seeking an experienced Senior Client Developer with a passion for business development and a proven track record to support the ongoing success of its environmental, geotechnical, and construction materials testing teams in Tennessee and Alabama. The role involves leading business development initiatives, collaborating with Project Management, Communications, and Marketing teams to establish and strengthen client relationships, and developing strategies for growth. The company prioritizes high-quality client relationships, sound technical approaches, and collaborative problem-solving. S&ME has grown into a trusted partner for clients across various industries, including transportation, energy, water, waste management, education, government, commercial, and industrial sectors, actively supporting high-profile projects in Alabama and Tennessee.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, marketing, construction, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of technical and/or business development experience within the Commercial Real Estate, Architecture, Construction, and Engineering industries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Existing relationships with various A/E/C industry Designers, Contractors, and Owners.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, using personal vehicles for company business, which may sometimes occur during evenings and on weekends.
  • Ability to increase sales opportunities for S&ME, achieve a sales target, and contribute to profitable growth across Tennessee and Alabama.
  • Must comply with Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements.
  • Must have valid employment eligibility (I-9).

  • Current involvement and visibility in professional organizations, industry associations, civic groups, and/or local associations for economic and business growth is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading S&ME's business development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Communications, and Marketing teams to establish new client relationships and strengthen existing ones.
  • Develop strategies to achieve individual and office-wide sales and net revenue goals.
  • Identify market trends and potential clients.
  • Identify cross-region clients and develop strategies for developing clients at the regional level.
  • Represent S&ME in local markets to enhance existing client relationships, win new clients, and increase S&ME's profile.
  • Maintain active involvement in professional associations for networking and growth.
  • Coordinate marketing activities and sponsorship opportunities.
  • Help organize local events and social media campaigns.
  • Assist in developing letters of interest, proposals, responses to RFQs, and interview presentations.
  • Help project managers and other staff strengthen their business development skills.
  • Participate in and lead regular Business Development meetings to ensure ongoing and effective implementation of the strategy.
  • Research, prospect, and schedule face-to-face meetings with key decision-makers and influencers.
  • Increase sales opportunities for S&ME, achieve a sales target, and contribute to profitable growth across Tennessee and Alabama.
