About The Position

Provide federal position classification and position management support, including evaluation of positions, organizational structures, and workforce alignment. Interpret and apply classification standards, regulations, policies, and guidance to determine appropriate position titles, occupational series, grades, and related position designations. Consult with managers and supervisors to assess duties, responsibilities, organizational needs, and workforce requirements. Review, develop, edit, and validate position descriptions to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with assigned duties and classification standards. Prepare classification evaluation statements, narrative justifications, and supporting documentation for classification determinations. Determine and document Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status, bargaining unit status, and other position-related requirements as applicable. Conduct desk audits and position reviews by interviewing employees and supervisors, analyzing work assignments, and evaluating positions against established classification criteria. Identify and recommend solutions for organizational and classification issues, including position alignment, workforce structure, and internal equity concerns. Provide guidance and customer support regarding classification processes, requirements, timelines, and best practices. Maintain classification records, case files, position descriptions, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness. Update and maintain human resources information systems and position management records in support of personnel actions and workforce management activities.

Requirements

  • 7 years of experience providing advisory and consultative services to supervisors and managers regarding federal position classification and position management.
  • Experience developing position descriptions, reviewing existing position descriptions for accuracy, equity, and recertification; determining the appropriate position title, occupational series, and grade; developing evaluation statements and narrative justifications to support classification determinations.
  • Expertise in analyzing classification actions to ensure they are compliant with Office of Personnel Management (OPM) classification standards, guides, and regulations.
  • Experience determining bargaining unit status codes, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and preparing OPM OF-8 form and other relevant PD attachments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with staff and the public as well as be persuasive when defending position determinations.
