About The Position

Join Christian Brothers Services, a mission-driven organization supporting Catholic ministries nationwide. Our Risk Solutions division is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Claims Manager to provide leadership, oversight, and governance for our Risk Pooling Trust claims program. In this role, you will lead claims strategy across workers’ compensation and property & casualty programs, oversee TPAs and vendor performance, support Trust members through complex claims matters, and help drive outcomes that align with Trust standards and member expectations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 8+ years of experience in workers’ compensation and/or property & casualty claims, including claim oversight
  • Strong background in claims strategy, litigation oversight, reserve management, and vendor governance
  • Experience managing TPAs, defense counsel, and claims-related vendors
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-service mindset
  • Ability to work independently while making sound business decisions on complex matters

  • Experience supporting member education, claims training, or risk mitigation initiatives preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership on workers’ compensation and property & casualty claims, including claim philosophy, reserving adequacy, litigation strategy, and portfolio oversight
  • Exercise settlement and reserve authority up to $250,000, including approval of significant reserve changes and exception handling
  • Represent the Trust in mediations and settlement conferences, setting negotiation strategy and evaluating risk exposure
  • Offer advanced guidance and support to Trust members on complex or sensitive claims, including exposure analysis and risk mitigation opportunities
  • Conduct claims file audits and evaluate TPA performance through scorecards, KPIs, and compliance reviews
  • Oversee defense counsel relationships, including litigation strategy, budgeting, and performance management
  • Partner with Account Managers and Loss Control teams to identify claim trends and develop educational resources, training materials, and webinars
  • Review and analyze claims program spending, including indemnity, medical, legal, and vendor costs, to identify savings opportunities and efficiency improvements
