About The Position

Multi-state commercial insurance carrier is seeking a qualified Senior Claims Examiner for a position in their Vancouver, WA claims office. This role involves investigating commercial insurance automobile, property damage, and general liability claims, handling them from initial report to final disposition. The examiner will conduct policy coverage and liability investigations, analyze applicable state laws, and determine damages for property, commodity, and personal injury claims. Establishing a course of action to conclude claims timely and in compliance with state regulatory requirements is crucial. The position requires analyzing exposures, ensuring proper reserves are established, and escalating high exposure claims to management. Task assignments to outside vendors, along with their oversight and management, are also required. Communication with policyholders, agents, and underwriting on key claim issues is essential. The role involves conducting open claim reviews and working cohesively with other departments to deliver superior customer service and claim service to policyholders. Travel may be required for mediations, trials, and training activities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience handling bodily injury claims is required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word & Excel is required.
  • Strong analytical skills are required to effectively and efficiently analyze information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to express complex evaluations and resolve claims through a well-planned negotiation strategy
  • Customer service skills and a willingness to work in a team-oriented environment are essential
  • Data entry skills with a focus on attention to details

Responsibilities
