About The Position

This is an add to staff position on the Claims team. The Senior Claims Examiner- Architects and Engineers adjudicates assigned claims within given authority and according to Hiscox Claims Best Practices. This person adjusts and resolves low to moderate professional liability claims that include litigated matters. They accurately document claim files with all relevant claim documentation, correspondence and notes in compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory authorities. This is a heavy customer-facing role requiring confident communication skills to resolve matters directly with claimants and/or claimant attorneys. With minimal supervision, the examiner drafts coverage letters, including reservation of rights and denial letters. They review and analyze claims to determine appropriate and timely reserving per Hiscox Claims Best Practices, identify emerging exposures and claims trends, and manage defense counsel as necessary in defending litigated matters. The role also involves identifying suspected fraudulent claims and tracking with the Special Investigations Unit, and participating in Claims Projects as needed.

Requirements

3-5 years of claims handling experience in Architects and Engineers or similar professional liability or specialty claims with an insurance carrier
Advanced knowledge of claims analysis and adjusting practices
In depth knowledge of standards for claims documentation and legal filings
Proven ability to actively and effectively negotiate settlement of moderate complexity claims
Strong communication skills a must. This role is very customer facing including insureds, brokers, and internal and external business partners.

Active insurance adjuster’s license
B.A./B.S degree from an accredited College or University, required.
JD a plus.

Responsibilities
