About The Position

This role involves the investigation, negotiation, and settlement of Senior Third Party Bodily Injury and Casualty claims, including Automobile, Homeowners, and Commercial third party claims. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of claims, engage stakeholders, confirm policy coverages, investigate claims to determine liability and quantum, and maintain detailed file records. Responsibilities also include attending mediations, pre-trials, and settlement initiatives, settling claims directly with claimants and Plaintiff’s Counsel, and directing/instructing Defence Counsel. The role also involves mentoring junior team members and performing well in a busy operation while remaining calm under pressure. Requirements

  • University degree, a college diploma or the CIP designation.
  • Comfortable and experienced working on Ontario auto BI and CGL claims.
  • Minimum 3 years of claims handling experience in Bodily Injury/Casualty Litigation.
  • Notable Commercial General Liability Claims handling experience, both Bodily Injury and Property damage.
  • Professional, friendly and courteous in all interactions, whether with customers or co-workers.
  • Perform well in a busy operation and remain calm under pressure.
  • Team player adaptable to a changing environment.
  • A passion for coaching and mentoring junior staff.
  • Dependable with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Focused on building engagement and culture.
  • Proficient in MS Office and strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of Senior Bodily Injury, Casualty, and General Liability Claims.
  • Engage all stakeholders in the effective management of a claim including underwriting and senior leadership.
  • Confirming policy coverages, investigating claims to determine liability and quantum.
  • Maintaining detailed file records.
  • Attending/participating in mediations, pre-trials and settlement initiatives.
  • Settle claims directly with claimants and with Plaintiff’s Counsel.
  • Direct and Instruct Defence Counsel.
  • Mentoring of junior team members.
