About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to be based in one of our client’s offices in Corpus Christi, Texas, supporting major LNG, Oil & Gas, and industrial projects. The Senior Civil/Structural Engineer will provide technical leadership and engineering support for civil and structural activities throughout the project lifecycle. The position will work closely with the client’s engineering organization, project management team, engineering contractors, construction teams, vendors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure that civil/structural engineering activities are safely, efficiently, and successfully executed. The successful candidate will have strong experience in industrial civil and structural engineering, with demonstrated capability in engineering design, technical review, project coordination, and construction support. The position requires a proactive engineer who can work effectively in a client-facing environment, identify and resolve technical issues, and provide sound engineering judgment. This position will serve as a key technical interface between the client and engineering/design organizations and will help ensure that project requirements, engineering standards, codes, quality requirements, schedule, and constructability considerations are properly addressed. This position will be full based in our clients's office (minimum 4 days/week).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline is required.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant civil/structural engineering experience, preferably within LNG, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, chemical, refining, or other large industrial EPC projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working on major industrial projects in a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Discipline Lead capacity.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the design and review of: Structural steel, Reinforced concrete structures, Equipment foundations, Pipe rack structures, Platforms and access structures, Buildings and industrial facilities, Site civil and grading, Roads and paving, Stormwater drainage, Underground utilities and related civil infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis and design principles for industrial facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards, including ACI, AISC, ASCE, IBC, PIP, and other applicable industry standards.
  • Experience reviewing engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, design criteria, and technical reports.
  • Experience with structural analysis/design software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, RISA 3D, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D engineering/modelling systems.
  • Strong understanding of engineering quality requirements and QA/QC processes.
  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to technical quality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound engineering judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively under demanding project schedules and changing priorities.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
  • Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience with engineering design reviews and 3D model coordination is preferred.
  • Experience supporting construction and field engineering activities on industrial projects is highly desirable.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required with State Board of Texas or the ability to obtain Texas licensure by comity.
  • Second language desired but not required. Fluency in Spanish is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Senior Civil/Structural Engineer supporting LNG, Oil & Gas, and industrial facility projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support for civil and structural engineering activities throughout all phases of a project for feasibility study to detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases as required.
  • Coordinate civil/structural engineering activities with engineering contractors, project management, construction, and other disciplines.
  • Review and provide technical oversight of civil/structural engineering deliverables, including calculations, drawings, specifications, design criteria, reports, and studies.
  • Provide engineering guidance for foundations, concrete structures, steel structures, equipment foundations, pipe racks, platforms, buildings, paving, roads, drainage, site development, and other industrial facilities.
  • Review engineering contractor designs for compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, standards, specifications, and client design criteria.
  • Coordinate civil/structural interfaces with process, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, and other disciplines.
  • Review design changes and provide technical recommendations regarding constructability, cost, schedule, and project requirements.
  • Identify potential engineering issues, conflicts, and risks; work proactively with project teams to develop practical solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews, model reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOP/HAZID-related activities, and other project technical reviews as required.
  • Monitor engineering progress and support the project team in achieving engineering milestones and schedule commitments.
  • Review engineering contractor and vendor documents and provide technical comments and recommendations.
  • Support preparation of request for proposals (RFP), development and review of civil/structural engineering scopes of work, engineering estimates, schedules, and execution plans, technical bid evaluations, vendor document reviews, and technical clarification responses.
  • Provide construction support, including reviewing RFIs, reviewing field issues, evaluating proposed changes.
  • Participate and lead site visits and field inspections to verify existing conditions and support resolution of civil/structural construction issues.
  • Coordinate with field engineering and construction personnel to ensure that design requirements are properly implemented in the field.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet applicable QA/QC requirements and procedures.
  • Maintain awareness of applicable engineering codes, standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Recommend improvements to engineering standards, design practices, specifications, and work processes to improve quality, safety, constructability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Serve as a technical representative of the company in meetings and engineering coordination meetings.
  • Ensure all engineering activities are performed with appropriate consideration of safety, quality, schedule, cost, and constructability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
