About The Position

We are hiring a Senior Engineer to lead Municipal Engineering / Infrastructure Design projects on a full-time, direct basis at our office in Newark, NJ.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or a similar discipline).
  • 12+ years of professional experience working in Engineering, preferably with infrastructure projects and the municipal sector.
  • PE license in NJ.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Municipal Engineer [CME] credential is preferred.
  • Management and/or Project Management experience; proven ability to manage multi-discipline projects is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced expertise working with design and permitting activities.
  • Experience working on wet utility (water and/or wastewater) projects.
  • Experience working with water resources (such as stream and waterway restoration).
  • Experience with engineering tools (e.g.: CADD, GIS, analytical programs, etc.); experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS / ArcInfo.
  • Experience with H&H tools (e.g.: HydroCAD, InfoSWWM, OpenFlows WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, & SewerGEMS).
  • Proficiency on all standard Microsoft Office software applications (especially Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision while displaying a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills, especially with a proven ability to work in a self-motivated manner while effectively multi-tasking and prioritizing multiple assignments.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written); technical writing skills are strongly preferred!

Responsibilities

  • Manage a variety of projects; this includes projects for municipalities, counties, and authorities (including subdivision & land development reviews, road rehabilitation, stormwater management (SWM), capital improvements, grant writing, and attendance at public meetings).
  • Manage capital improvement projects for municipal clients.
  • Oversee review of applications before planning, zoning, and/or land-use boards.
  • Serve as a Municipal Engineer and Board Engineer including attending office hours and/or planning/zoning/council meetings as required.
  • Prepare proposals and budget estimates.
  • Mentor and develop staff in the design of engineering projects (including roadways, drainage, water, wastewater, other utilities, and site development).
  • Contribute to the development & growth of Municipal Engineering Services for the office.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned, as needed.
