Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, or Engineering Technology with a focus on Transportation or Municipal
8+ years of experience, including both technical and business development experience in road design, municipal and civil engineering, and transportation planning
Experience preparing engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications using tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads
Collaborative attitude when working with other members of a road and transportation team
Ability to work independently, with direction and supervision provided as needed based on the complexity of assignments

Responsibilities

Play an important role in delivering a range of infrastructure projects, focusing particularly on detailed design for municipal and linear infrastructure.
Prepare preliminary and detailed designs, covering all facets of civil engineering such as grading, drainage, utilities, and construction detailing.
Maintain high drafting and modeling standards, working closely with the CAD standards group.
Collaborate with other design disciplines for successful project execution.
Provide guidance and assistance to junior and intermediate designers on both design concepts and software questions.
Lead and contribute to the planning, preliminary, and detailed design of roadways and highways.
Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal design standards such as TAC, OTM, and MTO Design Supplements.
Perform quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, and design calculations.
