Arcadis is seeking a talented Senior Road Designer for our Toronto West office. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, or Engineering Technology with a focus on Transportation or Municipal
  • 8+ years of experience, including both technical and business development experience in road design, municipal and civil engineering, and transportation planning
  • Experience preparing engineering drawings, 3D models, and specifications using tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and OpenRoads
  • Collaborative attitude when working with other members of a road and transportation team
  • Ability to work independently, with direction and supervision provided as needed based on the complexity of assignments

Responsibilities

  • Play an important role in delivering a range of infrastructure projects, focusing particularly on detailed design for municipal and linear infrastructure.
  • Prepare preliminary and detailed designs, covering all facets of civil engineering such as grading, drainage, utilities, and construction detailing.
  • Maintain high drafting and modeling standards, working closely with the CAD standards group.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines for successful project execution.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to junior and intermediate designers on both design concepts and software questions.
  • Lead and contribute to the planning, preliminary, and detailed design of roadways and highways.
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal design standards such as TAC, OTM, and MTO Design Supplements.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, and design calculations.
