About The Position

We are automating construction end to end to usher in a new era of abundance and beauty in the physical world. The industry has become less productive over the past fifty years, and with decaying infrastructure, power shortages, and an aging workforce, the only way through is to hyper-scale development with technology at a rate never before seen. This role is for a Senior Civil Engineer to bring deep, practicing site-civil expertise into our product. You'll pair years of hands-on design experience (grading and earthwork, hydrology, permitting, geotechnical, etc.) with product development, turning how an excellent civil engineer thinks, checks, and makes judgment calls into capabilities within our automated design engine product. This product leverages AI to automate every step of the engineering design process to produce end construction design deliverables for large scale capital projects such as utility scale power and data centers. You'll set the bar for what "correct" means on every civil deliverable we ship. This role is in-person in San Francisco, CA.

Requirements

• Owned significant civil engineering scopes within the design of large scale projects such as utility scale power stations, data centers, launch vehicle facilities, mass-scale manufacturing operations, mining operations, or similar.
• T-shaped technical excellence: broad understanding of how the civil scope connects to adjacent disciplines, and the implications of trade-offs across them, while also having deep expertise in 1-2 areas.
• Evidence of strong first principles thinking: someone who has challenged "this is how we've always done it" syndrome.
• Excitement to work in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, and embrace extreme ownership where we rethink many of the traditional "best-practices" of an industry that has been mostly frozen for 70+ years.
• The ability to prioritize impact by ruthlessly finding the bottlenecks and solving the most important problems.
• Hands-on engineers who can speak to the excruciating minutia and details of their work.

• Significant hands-on civil design experience.
• PE strongly preferred.
• Even if you've barely written software before, you'll leverage recent advancements in AI coding agents to assist you in building these tools.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with utility scale natural gas power generation plant and/or solar design.
• Experience building your own calculation, analysis, or design-automation tools.
• Experience with AI coding agent tools (Codex, Claude Code, etc) for work or personal uses.
