This position oversees environmental permitting activities for transportation projects and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations within District 8-0. As a Senior Civil Engineer Supervisor (Transportation), you will perform the following duties: Permit Coordination: Manage environmental permits for highway and bridge projects and ensure regulatory compliance. Technical Review: Evaluate engineering plans and provide recommendations to resolve environmental and design issues. Project Oversight: Guide permitting activities, monitor mitigation measures, and support staff across project phases. Agency Collaboration: Work with federal, state, and local partners to obtain approvals and address compliance needs. Staff Supervision: Direct, train, and evaluate employees responsible for environmental planning and compliance. Documentation Management: Maintain records, prepare reports, and support required inspections and submissions.

Requirements

  • Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists
  • Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline
  • Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions

  • Telework may be an option with a securely configured high-speed internet connection and an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If unable to telework, option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
