About The Position

Huitt-Zollars, Inc. has a full-time opportunity for a Senior Project Manager for our Denver office with 10 years of Project Management experience with structural clients. Must be registered in Colorado as a Professional Engineer. This role involves working as a member of a multi-discipline project team in the design and development of projects, collaborating with internal disciplines, and conducting meetings with clients, internal disciplines, and contractors. The position requires designing and analyzing structural systems for low-to high-rise buildings, coordinating and delegating tasks, mentoring young engineers, assisting with project budgets and fees, reviewing shop drawings, performing field inspections, and facilitating construction administration. The role demands competency in all project phases and performing quality reviews of engineering plans.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Must be a Licensed Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Colorado.
  • 10 years of experience.
  • Experience in design of structural systems using the following materials: Wood framed, light gauge and structural steel, concrete, masonry, and deep foundations.
  • Sound verbal, written, and graphic communication skill.
  • Excellent ability to interact with clients and multi-discipline team members.
  • Organized and self-motivated.
  • Should have experience in the following programs: Adapt software, RAM structural systems, RAM elements, RISA software, Microsoft outlook, word, excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong Revit skills.
  • Strong understanding of national codes and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a member of multi-discipline project team in the design and development of projects.
  • Collaborate with, and act as a resource for, Huitt-Zollars in a multi-discipline office. This includes conducting meetings with clients, internal disciplines and or contractors and their subs.
  • Design and analyze structural systems for low-to high-rise buildings.
  • Coordinate and delegate tasks between multiple disciplines and attend regular meetings.
  • Effectively mentor young engineers and assist in their development.
  • Assist and work with senior staff to develop project budgets and proposed fees.
  • Review shop drawings, perform field inspections, and facilitate the construction administration process.
  • Demonstrate competency in all project phases.
  • Perform quality reviews of engineering plans for completeness and engineering accuracy.
  • Takes active steps in the pursuit of winning new business or additional opportunities with existing clients and may be responsible for a stated portion of office sales goal. Assists and/or leads team in pursuit of new work (repeat work, SOQ and Proposals). Develops and/or executes project Win strategy.
  • Successfully and consistently functions as Lead Principal-in-Charge for their designated Practice Area in geographic market.
  • Competent, knowledgeable, service leader in the market(s) they service.
  • Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Ensures quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
  • Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Ensures proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
  • Reviews project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Leads successful projects (profit, on-schedule, quality, satisfied client). Verifies client satisfaction routinely and shares feedback with team.
  • Proactively works with PM to strategize resolving issues that impact project performance. Reviews progress with PM at least monthly (including & completes vs. % spent) and that PM is adhering to weekly rhythm.
  • Successfully contributes to the overall profitability and financial performance on projects.
  • Oversees staff deliverables and production assigned to their projects to ensure client, legal, and company requirements are met.
