About The Position

The Senior Civil Engineer (Hydraulic) role with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will give you the chance to be a part of challenging and meaningful work. This position supports the design, inspection, and improvement of dams and other civil engineering projects that protect public spaces and natural resources. The work you do, will help ensure safe structures and reliable facilities across state parks and forests.

Requirements

  • Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate’s degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance for complex civil engineering projects and review plans, drawings, and cost estimates
  • Develop advanced designs for dams, erosion control structures, streambank stabilization, and related projects
  • Visit sites to gather measurements, assess conditions, and collect hydraulic and engineering data
  • Review consultant work for accuracy, manage design contracts, and track project progress
  • Obtain required permits and apply knowledge of environmental and stormwater regulations to assigned projects
