Senior Civil Deputy County Attorney - Bisbee
About The Position
Under limited supervision, this position supervises professional legal services of unusual difficulty and performs other legal services as required or assigned. As defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, this role may include various tasks, knowledge, skills, and characteristics. The work is primarily performed in a typical office or court setting with appropriate climate controls. Essential functions require lifting up to 20 pounds, manual dexterity, and the ability to communicate. This role utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills. Requirements
- Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Experience in analyzing complex legal issues and providing legal advice and/or litigating criminal or civil cases
- Must be licensed by the State Bar of Arizona to practice law in the State of Arizona
- Must remain active with all Arizona Bar annual requirements
- Must maintain a clear criminal record
- Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver’s License
- Ability to be covered by county insurance
Nice To Haves
- Extensive trial/litigation experience in a leading role in complex criminal or civil cases
- Experience in managing or supervising attorneys and support staff
- Governmental experience
Responsibilities
- Supervises and reviews work of staff Attorneys and Paralegals
- Performs organization and administrative duties, including staff and caseload scheduling
- Participates in day-to-day personnel management, including recruitment, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions
- Assists in budgetary processes and fiscal review
- Initiates, engages, and defends litigation
- Performs legal research
- Reviews and prepares legal documents
- Handles appeals
- Renders legal advice to clients
- Performs factual investigations
