About The Position

This is a Department Promotional Examination and is open to eligible employees of the Kern County Department of Child Support Services. The examination process includes a written exam and an oral exam. The written exam will assess knowledge of modern investigative techniques and procedures, various software programs utilized by the Department of Child Support Services, rules of evidence in state laws pertaining to child support cases, community resources for investigative purposes, court procedures, interviewing principles and techniques, and county, state, and federal regulations as applied to child support functions. The oral examination will appraise training, education, experience, interest, and personal fitness for the position. Applicants must achieve at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process. A background check, and potentially post-offer medical and drug screening tests, may be conducted. Successful candidates will be placed on an eligible list for twelve months.

Requirements

Two (2) years of experience equivalent to Child Support Specialist II in the Kern County classification system.
Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License.
Valid government-issued photograph identification for examination admittance.
Ability to make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date if unable to present proper identification.

Responsibilities
