This role is responsible for applying technical competence and knowledge based on past experiences to generate new ideas that lead to innovative and proprietary products. The Senior Chemist will implement literature findings, introduce new chemical concepts into work, and propose and conduct technology creation projects to create new building blocks. A fundamental understanding of raw material properties is essential. The position involves transferring new products/technologies to production, evaluating competitive technologies, new raw materials, and new processes. The Senior Chemist will manage assigned projects from idea proposal to product release, review Idea Proposals, and perform feasibility studies per the PCP process. Systematical experimentation using DOE and other statistical methods will be employed for data evaluation. Quality tools per IATF and Six Sigma will be actively implemented in cross-functional exchange. The role includes conducting experiments to identify BMAP and FMEA criteria and countermeasures for new products, contacting raw material suppliers to identify potential new materials or technologies, and leading customer interaction to negotiate specification testing criteria and gain material approval. The Senior Chemist will visit assembly plants to provide technical solutions to customers, utilize patent literature in project work, and publish research proposals and field test proposals. Identifying equipment needed for new programs and executing RPA are also key responsibilities. The role involves recommending and championing solutions/products/formulations and applying and interpreting advanced analytical methods (rheology, spectroscopy, etc.) in project work.
