About The Position

The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Chemical Technologies Engineer for the 787 Wing & Empennage Engineering Support Team within Boeing Commercial Airplanes Materials & Processes (BCA M&P) in North Charleston, SC. This role involves defining engineering requirements, selecting materials and processes, and supporting product design and manufacturing in compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations. The engineer will also plan and execute qualification activities for new materials, parts, processes, and suppliers, including test programs and audits. Key aspects include performing failure and performance analyses, managing test programs and supplier qualifications, and applying project management tools to achieve cost, technical, and schedule objectives. The position emphasizes integrating environmental health and safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into various engineering activities and collaborating with multiple teams to support product development and production readiness. Maintaining technical records and specifications for audits and continuous improvement is also a core function.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
5+ years’ experience in Engineering and Manufacturing environment
3+ Experience interpreting engineering drawings and specifications related to chemical finishes and corrosion protection for aerospace applications

Experience with aerospace organic and inorganic finishes
Experience with aerospace chemical coating technology
Experience with chemical coating material qualification
Experience analytical lab practices (FTIR, GCMS, environmental testing)

Responsibilities

Define engineering requirements and select or recommend parts, materials, processes, manufacturing technologies, machinery, tools, and automation systems to support product design and manufacturing in accordance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
Plan and execute qualification activities for new materials, parts, processes, and suppliers, including test programs and audits.
Perform failure and performance analyses of tools, materials, parts, or processes to identify root causes and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
Manage test programs, supplier qualifications, and related documentation to ensure compliance with program requirements.
Apply project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule objectives for assigned tasks and projects.
Integrate environmental health and safety, LEAN, and Quality principles into materials/process design, research and qualification, procedures, and laboratory/office operations.
Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and other engineering teams to support product development and production readiness.
Maintain technical records, specifications, and reports to support audits, certifications, and continuous improvement efforts.
