Rapid Recovery, the company's service division, is a leading provider of refrigerant recovery services for various industries. A-Gas utilizes industry-leading technologies in recovery, reclamation, and gas processing to develop innovative solutions for environmental protection. This Chemical Engineer role is crucial for project success, focusing on designing new equipment and improving existing equipment to meet business goals, expand operations, and increase profitability.

Requirements

  • Degree level Chemical Engineer / Manufacturing/process engineering or other relevant degree
  • 3+ years of industry on the job experience
  • Experience managing engineering projects from concept through delivery.
  • Experience managing construction contractors and site execution activities.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation, mechanical, and civil engineering as it applies to plant design and construction.
  • Working knowledge of hazard analysis and experience leading or participating in HAZOP studies.
  • Experience with the design and operation of pressurized liquefied gas systems.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar design tools.
  • Industrial safety experience, including work with life-critical procedures such as LOTOTO, working at heights, and hot work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Understanding of chemical processing techniques such as fractional distillation.
  • PLC programming and specification experience.
  • Detailed understanding of relevant industry standards, ASME BPVC VIII, 49 CFR, ASME B31.3, etc.
  • Experience with process simulation tools such as CHEMCAD or Aspen.
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

  • Support projects and lead project tasks and activities to ensure success based on target schedule, cost, and functionality.
  • Participate in HAZOP studies and execute recommended actions.
  • Provide construction execution plan recommendations and supervise contractors and internal resources during construction.
  • Provide technical evaluation for the purchase of capital equipment, including distillation columns, pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, piping, and instrumentation.
  • Ensure equipment design is sustainable and coordinate equipment data with maintenance.
  • Provide recommendations for proper mechanical integrity and reliability.
  • Coach team members and deliver training for site staff on operational standards.
  • Ensure risk assessments and hazard identification are carried out for all tasks and implement necessary control measures.
  • Support the team in maintaining site equipment, ensuring systems are safe, calibrated, and functioning to design.
  • Assist with repairs and equipment development to maintain high aesthetic standards.
  • Ensure adherence to all company health and safety policies.
