About The Position

Our Integrated Supply Chain Department, within the Engineering, Construction & Supply Chain Business Unit, is seeking a Senior Category Specialist to join our team in Juno Beach, FL. In this role, you will take a lead position in procurement and contracting activities supporting EPC and construction services for new-build energy projects across NextEra’s portfolio. You will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, leading complex negotiations, and managing contractor and supplier relationships to support the successful delivery of critical energy infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • High School Grad / GED
  • Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Strong capability in working cross-functionally and engaging stakeholders across Development, Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Finance, Legal, and Supply Chain to support sourcing execution and drive alignment.
  • Proven experience planning and delivering end-to-end category initiatives, managing timelines, dependencies, and risks while maintaining a consistent intake-to-award cadence.
  • A results-driven approach with a track record of delivering savings, improving contractor and supplier performance, and mitigating commercial, schedule, quality, and execution risk through disciplined reporting and follow-through.
  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to connect category strategies to project economics, total installed cost, schedule impact, change order exposure, risk allocation, and budget certainty.
  • Deep contractor and supplier management experience including market mapping, contractor prequalification, developing strategic partnerships, supplier performance management, and driving continuous improvement across a complex services supply base.
  • Experience negotiating complex services agreements involving pricing, milestone payments, schedule commitments, retainage, liquidated damages, warranties, indemnities, change order controls, safety expectations, quality requirements, and commercial risk allocation.
  • High proficiency with analytical tools and the ability to convert complex datasets into clear, actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing activities for major EPC and construction services categories supporting new-build energy projects, including RFQ development, scope review, commercial and technical bid evaluation, and contract negotiation to deliver optimal commercial outcomes while managing risk and contractor relationships.
  • Develop strong partnerships with stakeholders across business units, leadership, contractors, and suppliers by translating business objectives into sourcing strategies and driving cross-functional alignment.
  • Plan and deliver end-to-end category initiatives, managing timelines, dependencies, and risks while maintaining a consistent intake-to-award cadence.
  • Deliver savings, improve contractor and supplier performance, and mitigate commercial, schedule, quality, and execution risk through disciplined reporting and follow-through.
