We have an immediate opportunity for a Fleet Category Senior Specialist, in our Lake County, Abbott Park, IL location. The Fleet Category Senior Specialist is responsible for executing Abbott’s North America fleet procurement strategy created by the Category Manager, including fleet lifecycle management, supplier ecosystem, and cost optimization. The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience managing corporate fleets and will serve as the internal subject matter expert for fleet-related decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience
  • Minimum 2+ years experience in corporate fleet management
  • Contracting and negotiations experience, outstanding verbal communication

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of procurement best practices or supply management strategies.
  • Demonstrated ownership of fleet program (1,000+ vehicles, preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with Vehicle acquisition (OEMs or leasing companies)
  • Hands-on experience with Fleet lifecycle management and replacement strategies
  • Hands-on experience with Maintenance, fuel, telematics programs
  • Hands-on experience with Driver policy and compliance programs
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve Abbott’s North America fleet strategy, including vehicle selection, lifecycle planning, and total cost of ownership optimization
  • Establish and govern fleet policies, standards, and performance metrics
  • Oversee fleet lifecycle including acquisition, deployment, maintenance, fuel management, telematics, and remarketing programs
  • Optimize vehicle utilization, driver experience, and operational efficiency, working with the established leasing partner to implement
  • Manage relationships with leasing providers, and fleet management companies
  • Evaluate and select partners to support fleet performance, innovation, and cost goals
  • Lead commercial negotiations and sourcing initiatives to improve fleet strategy
  • Ensure contracts and supplier models align with operational and financial objectives
