The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating, estimating, negotiating, and settling property catastrophe claims in accordance with company standards. This role involves traveling to loss locations across Canada in response to catastrophic weather events to provide excellent customer service to affected clients. The candidate will deploy approved loss cost control programs and technology to investigate, negotiate and settle moderate to complex personal claims. They will develop and record claim and/or coverage information, document notes, and drive claims towards closure. The role requires interpreting policy wordings for correct coverage decisions, reviewing claim evidence, photos, and investigative documentation to identify subrogation opportunities or potential third-party liability exposure. Maintaining relationships and providing accurate direction to vendors and experts within corporate guidelines is also key. Knowledge of building codes and by-laws pertaining to structural repairs is necessary. While not deployed on CAT events, the candidate will support regional adjusting functions by working business-as-usual claims and support the national appraisal function by completing reinspections.
