This role provides physical conditioning, reconditioning, risk factor reduction, and education through exercise prescription, supervised exercise and educational programs in Cardiac Rehabilitation Services. The specialist will possess a thorough understanding of the physiological basis of activity and the ability to prescribe and instruct exercise according to American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) guidelines. They will be able to administer and interpret submaximal cardiovascular assessments and understand coronary heart disease and its risk factors. Competence in teaching Olympic lifts, plyometric exercises, strength training, speed development, and agility exercises within a periodization framework is expected. The role also involves demonstrating effectiveness in maintaining a well-organized operation for efficiency and accuracy, monitoring procedures, and implementing corrective actions. Employees may be asked to supervise students providing patient care. Good planning skills are demonstrated by ensuring appropriate scheduling of resources, including staff, equipment, and supplies, and by defining and delegating work responsibilities with clear, consistent expectations and outcomes.
