About The Position

The Senior Captive Claims Advocate is responsible for oversight and management of assigned claims. This position will help facilitate communication, documentation and understanding between insureds, adjusters and other involved parties in an effort to keep claims moving proactively toward resolution. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities; however, it serves in a mentorship capacity by providing guidance, training, and support to less experienced Advocates. The role is expected to assist with professional development, share technical knowledge and best practices, and serve as a resource to help strengthen the overall capabilities of the team.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree is preferred
5+ years of experience in an insurance role with applicable claims coverages
Knowledge of Property & Casualty forms and relevant coverages for proper claims reporting and analysis
Experience handling worker’s compensation claims required (when applicable)
Active Property and Casualty license required (company will help candidate obtain licensure if needed)
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Applied Epic experience preferred, but knowledge of similar Account Management System (AMS) is acceptable

Responsibilities

Manage a diary of assigned claims.
Utilize Applied EPIC system review to view status of claims.
Build relationships with Higginbotham Clients to help in facilitating management of their claims, assist (when applicable) with disputed claims resolutions, ensure timely follow-up on all requests.
Communicate with assigned adjusters to maintain forward progression towards resolution of assigned claims.
Educate insureds on both State specific regulation and mitigation programs offered by the various captive programs while assisting them to implement both.
Prepare and provide claim tracking information to involved parties
Look to identify trends or gaps in coverage for clients, relay to Account Management team.
Participate in claims review process with producers, clients and service department personnel.
Provide education of the claims process to agency and client personnel.
Continually search for process improvements and/or enhancements to workflow; make recommendations for change where appropriate.
Review documents issued by insurance company for accuracy.
Maintain familiarity with State specific regulation governing worker’s compensation benefits. (when applicable)
Research and become familiar with mitigation programs offered by the various captive programs to help mitigate worker’s compensation claims. (when applicable)
