About The Position

The Facilities Services department supports the University of Chicago's mission by maintaining and enhancing the campus environment and providing superior client service. This role applies deep knowledge and specialized expertise to coordinate and execute all phases of large capital projects, leading the construction and renovation of physical assets and bringing them online efficiently. The job involves leading the design and construction of spaces and buildings, establishing and reviewing project documentation, preparing monthly progress reports, and negotiating change orders. The position provides expertise in Facilities Project Delivery, guiding others in process improvements for complex facilities projects.

Requirements

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in a related field.
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice To Haves

College degree in construction management, architecture, project management, engineering or other design or construction related discipline.
Experience in capital construction delivery as an owner or service provider.
Project Management Professional Certification, Licensed Engineer or Licensed Architect.
Project management ability to manage cost, schedule, scope, resources and risk.
Cost estimating.

Responsibilities

Leads the design and construction of spaces and buildings.
Establishes and reviews project documentation.
Prepares monthly progress reports.
Negotiates all additional services and contractors change order requests.
Provides expertise in Facilities Project Delivery leading others to develop and recommend process improvements relating to their work on larger, complex facilities projects.
Performs other related work as needed.
