About The Position

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior CADD Designer/Design Manager to join our Highways & Traffic Engineering team. This role is for someone focused on a technical career path with a passion for transportation engineering, cutting-edge design software, and emerging digital delivery practices. The ideal candidate will be able to take projects from concept through polished construction documents and mentor a talented, growing team of engineers and designers. Our Highways & Traffic Engineering team works on a diverse range of transportation projects for clients including DOT’s, counties, municipalities, and contractors. The team is highly collaborative, dedicated to excellence, and acts as a trusted client advisor.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in engineering technology or the equivalent years of experience required.
  • 7+ years of CAD design experience on highway transportation projects required.
  • Experience with projects for state, county, and municipal transportation agencies required.
  • Proficient in one or more of the following platforms: Bentley OpenRoads, Inroads Suite SS10, and/or MicroStation SS10/CONNECT. Transoft Solutions AutoTURN and GuideSIGN.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team setting.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for the purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and/or professional engineering licensure a plus.
  • NYSDOT, New York State county, New York State municipal, or New York State Thruway Authority experience a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Produce models, drawings, details, and other deliverables for proposals and public infrastructure projects including highways, streets, intersections, and multi-modal facilities.
  • Create corridors and 3D surface models for design, estimating, and digital delivery.
  • Collaborate with other leaders, as well as CED’s Digital Technology Services Group, to create project workspaces for Bentley Software, maintain and apply CAD standards, and evaluate third party tools.
  • Provide on-the-job mentoring to staff, identify and facilitate Bentley MicroStation and InRoads/OpenRoads training, and grow the skills of our engineers as designers.
  • Provide quality control and assurance of design products developed by engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Assist project managers in developing cost-effective project budgets and workload planning.
  • Supervise CAD production staff as required.
