About The Position

Toyoda Gosei North America is seeking a Senior Buyer in its Purchasing department. The role provides professional-level production-related procurement across Toyoda Gosei North America Corporation and its manufacturing companies. The Senior Buyer leads supplier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives, supports sourcing and new-program launches, develops commodity strategies, and collaborates with suppliers and internal teams. The position also supports continuous improvement, including kaizen, and requires travel to manufacturing plants and suppliers as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience.
• Four to eight years of experience in a Purchasing function.
• Strong desire to learn all aspects of Purchasing and willingness to expand to other commodities.
• Exposure to developing short- and long-term global purchasing strategy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites 2016 or newer and Power BI.
• Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
• Effective verbal, non-verbal, negotiation, and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism when interacting with internal and external customers.
• Effective attention to detail, problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and project-scheduling skills.

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint, Power Automate, and AI-related tools such as Copilot.

Responsibilities

• Drive cost-saving initiatives, including annual price reviews and VA/VE activities.
• Lead annual price-review negotiations with existing suppliers to achieve cost reductions.
• Lead VA/VE activities with suppliers and cross-functional Toyoda Gosei groups.
• Negotiate supplier price increases and tariffs.
• Implement sourcing and new-program launch activities for new and existing materials.
• Participate in new-program launches with manufacturing plants, cross-functional departments, and suppliers.
• Issue, collect, negotiate, and analyze RFQs and cost breakdowns with new and existing suppliers.
• Analyze and forecast market data for price negotiations and budget preparation.
• Maintain purchase-order data and ensure approvals for upcoming purchases.
• Develop commodity strategies aligned with current market and business needs.
• Communicate with Toyoda Gosei Japan headquarters about global commodity strategies.
• Lead Purchasing's annual cost-saving target setting and strategy development.
• Partner with cross-functional groups and locations on new material development, commercial agreement strategies, commodity sourcing strategies, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Work collaboratively, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
• Participate actively in continuous improvement and kaizen efforts.
• Manage and resolve supplier issues as needed.
• Travel to Toyoda Gosei manufacturing plants and suppliers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
