About The Position

The Senior Buyer is responsible for assigned commodities, including pricing, procuring product, maintaining quality, and managing inventory levels. The role determines daily needs, orders loads, builds trucks for loading, and manages troubled loads, protections, credits, and shrink. The Senior Buyer participates in weekly pricing and operational meetings and serves as a liaison between sales staff and the procurement department.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent.
• 3 to 5 years of purchasing experience in a similar field and/or experience working within a retail, wholesale, or distribution environment.
• 2 years of produce-related purchasing of free on board (FOB) items.
• Working knowledge of MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Detail-oriented, with effective telephone communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to handle stress effectively.
• General understanding of computers.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and execute multiple short- and long-term tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to work with all levels within the organization.
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
