This position is responsible for developing relationships with cross-functional teams to understand technology developments, design changes, and future business decisions within the global supply chain. This includes regular collaboration with German-based headquarters (DTAG) and Mexico-based powertrain suppliers, requiring communication in German and Spanish. The role involves negotiating and renewing supplier agreements for critical materials, parts, components, or services, including conducting negotiations in Spanish with Mexican suppliers and in German with DTAG headquarters and German-based partners. The Senior Buyer will negotiate the most effective long-term programs for Daimler Truck, securing supplier commitments for pricing, warranty, engineering, manufacturing, and aftermarket support. They will manage cross-functional product teams, interface with suppliers and Daimler Truck Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering to ensure timely and accurate communication of specifications, and enlist supplier participation in design change considerations. The role also involves developing long-term strategies for purchasing aftermarket commodities and systems, interfacing with international suppliers to resolve quality problems, providing support to Parts Distribution Centers on supplier-related purchasing issues, negotiating supplier warranty coverage, and evaluating alternative materials, methods, technologies, and suppliers. The Senior Buyer will maintain supplier pricing files, blanket purchase orders, and cost-saving reporting tools, aiming to achieve the best total supplier-driven costs within the product lifecycle.
