About The Position

This is a global Senior Buyer role leading the management, negotiating and buyer of ocean container rates. The selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week or other frequency dictated by their manager. This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related fields
  • 5+ years of work experience in the related fields
  • Ocean carrier work experience
  • High level of oral and written communications skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Ability to both work independently and as a member of cross-functional teams
  • Ability to lead a project from start to finish
  • Detail oriented and Data Driven
  • High process focus
  • Energetic and passionate to find solutions to complex supply chain problems

Nice To Haves

  • Finance/Engineering/Logistics Certifications
  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related fields
  • Strong multi-faceted experience in Logistics and Supply Chains including working knowledge of various logistics modes and supply base dynamics
  • Strong Commercial Negotiation experience
  • Robust experience in complex bid and contract management
  • Working knowledge in data analysis and bid management software
  • Working experience in data analytics environment.
  • Strong purchasing negotiation skills in logistics or other services
  • Strong understanding of the network optimization concepts and process
  • Strong Technical capabilities including Data Mining and Analysis including knowledge of SQL, Tableau and MS Access
  • Knowledge of Mapping Tools including MapInfo
  • Leadership – ability to manage complex projects
  • High Analytic Capability in situations which are ambiguous and complex
  • Strong Senior Leadership presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing and Contracting Activities that include but not limited to: Sourcing event bid strategy & management, Bid analytics, Coordination and alignment of RFQ package components including Terms & Conditions, SOR, RFQ documentation, Leadership sourcing recommendation / alignment.
  • Management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to the GM Audit Services
  • Daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items
  • Support commercial budget activities
  • Support logistics supplier management initiatives including “Strategic Supplier Engagement”
  • Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution
  • Perform rate management activities including spot buys, rate analysis and supplier requests
  • Participate in supplier KPI reviews
