About The Position

The Role This is a global Senior Buyer role leading the management, negotiating and buyer of ocean container rates. What You’ll Do Sourcing and Contracting Activities that include but not limited to: Sourcing event bid strategy & management Bid analytics Coordination and alignment of RFQ package components including Terms & Conditions, SOR, RFQ documentation Leadership sourcing recommendation / alignment. Management of sourcing documentation related to bid events in adherence to the GM Audit Services Daily supplier interface activities on all commercial items Support commercial budget activities Support logistics supplier management initiatives including “Strategic Supplier Engagement” Nurture relationship with strategic suppliers by acting as a focal point for commercial issue resolution Perform rate management activities including spot buys, rate analysis and supplier requests Participate in supplier KPI reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related fields
  • 5+ years of work experience in the related fields
  • Ocean carrier work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Finance/Engineering/Logistics Certifications
  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or related fields
  • Strong multi-faceted experience in Logistics and Supply Chains including working knowledge of various logistics modes and supply base dynamics
  • Strong Commercial Negotiation experience
  • Robust experience in complex bid and contract management
  • Working knowledge in data analysis and bid management software
  • Working experience in data analytics environment.
  • Strong purchasing negotiation skills in logistics or other services
  • Strong understanding of the network optimization concepts and process
  • Strong Technical capabilities including Data Mining and Analysis including knowledge of SQL, Tableau and MS Access
  • Knowledge of Mapping Tools including MapInfo
  • Leadership – ability to manage complex projects
