About The Position

The Enterprise Storage business unit, NetApp's largest and most impactful, is a multi-billion dollar portfolio encompassing all-flash performance systems, capacity flash, and hybrid platforms. This portfolio supports mission-critical workloads for the world's largest enterprises and is central to emerging trends like enterprise AI and next-generation neocloud architectures. The Strategy & Operations (S&O) team within this unit works closely with NetApp's top executives to ensure the Enterprise Storage organization focuses on the right priorities and executes effectively on its goals. The team is involved in core product strategy decisions, driving operational rigor to accelerate execution. The role requires a blend of deep technical and analytical skills with strategic capabilities, including structured problem-solving, executive communication, and operating at the intersection of data and business strategy. Key focus areas include strategic planning, driving execution, executive reviews, rhythm of business, resource management, operational excellence, and ensuring the success of critical cross-company initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in business intelligence, data analytics, strategy & operations, or a related analytical role, ideally owning both data/analytics work and product/business framing.
  • Strong technical skills including SQL, Power BI, Excel, Python, and Statistics.
  • Extensive experience in data modeling, designing dimensional models, working with large datasets, and validating data quality.
  • AI-native: Daily use of AI as a force multiplier (LLMs, coding assistants like VSCode + GitHub Copilot + Claude) to accelerate SQL development, prototype Python scripts, and iterate on analyses.
  • Demonstrated experience building lightweight automations, internal tools, or analytical workflows using AI-assisted development.
  • Strategic and operational judgment: Ability to connect data to business/product context, frame the right questions, and deliver recommendations.
  • Executive communications: Ability to communicate findings to senior leaders, product managers, and engineers, adjusting depth and framing for the audience. Experience supporting executive reviews (VP+) by translating complex analysis into clear narratives from hypothesis to actionable recommendation.
  • Self-directed: Ability to manage multiple workstreams across strategy, operations, and ad-hoc requests, and proactively identify new opportunities/problems for prioritization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Information Systems) or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience in enterprise IT infrastructure (storage in particular) or hardware product organizations.
  • Background in product management, product operations, strategy & operations functions, or management consulting.

Responsibilities

  • Build the data foundation by designing and maintaining custom data models in Snowflake tailored to Enterprise Storage product use cases.
  • Own data quality by identifying gaps, reconciling discrepancies, and establishing trusted datasets for leadership.
  • Deliver Executive Monthly Business Reviews for Enterprise Storage, presented to C-Staff.
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards for real-time business performance visibility, designed around key product questions.
  • Create custom metrics views tied to active strategic initiatives.
  • Apply analytics to strategy and operations problems, including market sizing, wallet share estimation, competitive benchmarking, industry vertical opportunity assessments, diagnosing business performance (AOP attainment, bookings linearity, pricing trends, margin analysis), and informing product portfolio investment and positioning decisions.
  • Synthesize findings into clear, opinionated recommendations for leadership decision-making.
  • Work day-to-day with Product Management, StratOps, Engineering, Finance, Pricing, etc., on high-impact opportunities/problems for the Enterprise Storage organization.
  • Contribute to Board-level strategy materials, C-Staff executive reviews, and lead Enterprise Storage leadership discussions.
  • Drive the proactive data/analytics roadmap by understanding strategy, industry trends, competitive landscape, and business/product context, rather than just responding to requests.
