Retail Bank Operations is transforming to achieve high scalability and enable accelerated growth of the Retail Bank business. The Senior Business Director, Operations Strategy will be the primary strategy and analysis partner to the Operations leadership team, who will collectively drive the transformation vision and execution. This role involves developing data-driven strategies; collaborating with Product, Technology and Data Science (including cutting-edge AI) to identify solutions; and strengthening foundations for operational excellence. The Senior Business Director will lead a team of 15-20 Business Analysts dedicated to transforming Retail Bank Operations and delivering operational excellence objectives. The critical skills for this role include leading detailed operational performance analyses, developing clear and actionable transformation strategies across multiple domains, establishing prioritization frameworks to guide investment and execution, and engaging senior stakeholders across the enterprise. A strong results orientation and exceptional communication skills are essential to drive valuable outcomes, build organizational alignment, and elevate the transformation's results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 5 years of experience performing quantitative analysis
  • At least 5 years of experience performing qualitative analysis
  • At least 3 years of experience performing people management
  • At least 3 years of experience performing project management

Responsibilities

  • Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands
  • May manage and develop multiple analysts. Coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One
  • Develop and implement new product and pricing strategies for various lending products; lead product level data modeling/analytics
  • Lead direct-to-consumer marketing efforts for select products, and strategic intent for products distributed through the retail channel. Build targeted insights to inform the design and development of new customer experiences, as well as breakthrough technology and concepts designed to deliver on new go-to-market strategies
  • Drive step-change improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis
  • Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute against the product strategy. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently
  • Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: IT, Sales, Operations, Finance and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability
