About The Position

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Our HR team is hiring a Senior Business Analyst to support divisional planning and operational excellence for the delivery of key procurement priorities in the Human Resources division. The ideal candidate will have experience with stakeholder management, complex procurement process, forecasting, and budgeting.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Business, Finance, Math or Commerce, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience as a Business, Data or Financial Analyst
  • Knowledge of business practices, financial analysis; understanding of the financial and accounting impact of business processes to evaluate all business activities (e.g. audit, legal, and reporting requirements)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to present in a clear and compelling manner commentary, reports, and presentations to senior management
  • Ability to use critical judgement to make decisions and solve problems involving various levels of complexity, ambiguity, and risk

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Commercial, Vendor Management, and Procurement teams to track and manage HR-related contracts, invoices, and spend, ensuring accuracy, compliance with contractual terms, and alignment with financial controls.
  • Maintain oversight of vendor performance, contract milestones, and invoicing timelines for HR initiatives, identifying risks, trends, and opportunities to improve cost efficiency and governance.
  • Support business leaders through the procurement process by liaising with subject matter experts, identifying risks and impacts, and coordinating required support and approvals.
  • Create and apply reporting templates, analytical models and automated processes to monitor business critical results and meet all corporate standards.
  • Lead annual financial and budget planning for the HR Division.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with key stakeholders, especially with executives, on the progress of the projects under your responsibility.
  • Develop a network of internal and external contacts to support information gathering and analysis.
  • Support various corporate initiatives including Business Continuity Planning, records management and facilities management.
  • Promote innovation and encourage the adoption of best practices based on industry and business knowledge, while ensuring stability to operational integrity and governance requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement projects through the provision of strategic advice, data analysis and recommendations.
