About The Position

The Senior Business Analyst is an advanced individual contributor who supports operational performance across all academic departments within the healthcare system. This role leads complex operational analyses, develops advanced reporting tools and dashboards, and drives strategic planning and process improvement initiatives. The Senior Business Analyst participates as a key leader of the Watermark system implementation strategy and execution as well as the designated Senior Business Analyst of the Watermark Faculty Success module across Dell Medical School’s academic enterprise. The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance for Dell Med central units and all academic departments as well as growing the solution over time. Works closely with vendors and other technology suppliers in order to stay current on new features, and to influence such features by gathering and filtering feedback from Dell Med. In collaboration with central medical school academic & information leadership and staff, serves as a liaison within the department and all academic departments utilizing Watermark.

Requirements

  • Certified in Watermark platforms; ideally Certified in Watermark’s Faculty Success Administration
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in higher education administration, faculty affairs, or a similar role, with a proven track record of managing technical and business responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Watermark system administration, network management, cybersecurity, and technical support.
  • Strong change management skills, understanding of academic administration, project management, process improvement, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate faculty-centric processes to a technical audience as well as technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Certified in Watermark Faculty Success platform.
  • Trained in Jira Project Management Platforms.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Organizational Change, Information Technology, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Leads Oversight of Watermark System Implementation: The Watermark Senior Business Analyst will work in close collaboration with executives and staff in Dell Med Offices of Faculty Academic Affairs and Information to implement, customize, and configure the Watermark Faculty Success Module.
  • Builds collaborative relationships across the organization by maintaining effective communication and follow through with stakeholders to ensure timely resolution and progress on implementation and system adoption efforts.
  • Liaises, manages, and executes system implementation in partnership with central administrative units and departments in alignment with the University’s implementation plan.
  • Gathers requirements for integration with existing information management systems (including UT RMS, course evaluations, workday, and more) and engages in regular standups with the Dell Med project team and university project leaders in Academic Information Systems and the Office of Faculty Affairs to execute cascading project plans necessary to onboard all academic departments to the system.
  • Oversees, manages, and provides regular status updates on data entry efforts conducted by student workers through initial implementation and system adoption across all departments.
  • Serves as the day-to-day reporting, training, and work request point of contact for the system in partnership with Dell Med’s central units (Faculty Academic Affairs, Research, Medical Education, HR, and others) and departments using Watermark.
  • Drives Operational Process Improvement & Facilitates Stakeholder Engagement
  • Communicates complex findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Escalates issues and ensures timely resolution of analytics deliverables.
  • Leads regular trainings and maintains supportive resources and materials in partnership with departmental staff and faculty in preparation for annual faculty evaluative practices including promotion and tenure, annual evaluations, mid-probationary reviews, and comprehensive periodic reviews.
  • Oversees requests for system augmentations, works across IT and Faculty Academic Affairs teams to evaluate the impact of various system change requests and follows through with action planning in alignment with compliance and reporting best practices with guidance from IT and Faculty Academic Affairs executive leadership.
  • System Configuration in Collaboration with Project Managers and Business Owners
  • Leads cross-functional meetings and workshops to gather requirements.
  • Represents Dell Med central academic and information units with medical school departmental leadership, staff, and faculty end users in order to gather feedback and provide clear communication about systems they rely on to effectively facilitate faculty evaluation processes.
  • Functions in collaboration with project managers and business owners in UT Austin’s Offices of Faculty Affairs and Academic Information Systems, to represent Dell Med’s specific needs for system optimization and configurations/integrations unique to our school.
  • Schedules and performs software installations and upgrades to systems and layered software packages; maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Works with departments and units to configure relevant reporting and system metrics as needed for academic regulatory compliance and accreditation.
  • Leadership in System Training in Alignment with Implementation and System Upgrades
  • Supports Dell Medical School in the operations of configuring, managing, maintaining, and securing faculty academic activity reporting maintained and reported through the Watermark System.
  • Serves as the main point of contact regarding training and technical aspects of the Watermark Faculty Success applications and integrations.
  • Takes the lead in facilitating integration efforts in alignment with central Senior Business Analysts as new integrations are brought online.
  • Works closely with the Provost’s Office of Faculty Affairs & AIS, as well as Dell Medical School Offices of Faculty Academic Affairs and Information.
  • Takes the lead in managing change across the school as needed, provides timely and effective training communications across various stakeholder teams, and leads the development and enforcement of application operating standards, policies, and procedures as the platform matures.
