About The Position

Magellan Aerospace, Corporate has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst, Payroll. The successful incumbent will be the lead resource for Payroll system management, control and ongoing support. They will act as the key subject matter expert / functional Lead, participating in Payroll-related projects and collaborate with key stakeholders. This is a 12-month contract with an opportunity for renewal/extension.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Human Resources, or related field.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in IT, with a focus on HR and Payroll systems.
  • Experience with SAP SuccessFactors, specifically Employee Central Payroll (ECP), including full-cycle implementations, data migration, and go-live support.
  • Payroll architecture, schemas, PCRs, wage types, retroactivity, off cycle payroll
  • Payroll Interfaces (e.g., to SAP S4 Hana, UKG and ADP SmartCompliance)
  • Strong understanding of data flows, error handling, reconciliation, and payroll data security
  • Strong understanding of upstream HR data dependencies, including Employee Central, Time & Attendance, Benefits, and Compensation
  • Demonstrated experience ensuring payroll compliance with Canadian and U.S. federal, provincial/state, and local regulations
  • Strong knowledge of quarter-end processing, year end statutory reporting and audit requirements (T4/T4A, ROE, W 2/W 3, tax filings)
  • Experience troubleshooting payroll issues caused by upstream data or process gaps
  • Support the management of user permissions and controls within SAP / Success Factors Payroll and ADP SmartCompliance
  • Setup and maintain payroll process documentation, training materials and job aids
  • Refine and improve the processes as new functions / features / business needs evolve
  • Build and deliver training plans / content for Payroll Administrators
  • Contribute to the adoption and mastery of SAP / Success Factors Payroll within other business units
  • Proficiency in SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central (EC) and Payroll modules
  • Strong understanding of Payroll Control Center configuration, Role-Based Permissions, and resolving performance issues
  • Experience with third-party integration tools related to HR and Payroll (e.g., timekeeping systems, benefits, tax systems)
  • Knowledge of SAP SuccessFactors patches and upgrades, and ability to manage system improvements and updates
  • Experience in managing and maintaining internal controls and segregation of duties related to payroll processes and HR systems.
  • Leadership and coordination skills to manage and lead HR Payroll system initiatives, including the ability to oversee payroll staff and project teams
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to resolve technical issues and payroll discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to act as the main point of contact for HR and technical teams, and to work effectively with internal departments (HR, Payroll, Finance) and external service providers.
  • Ability to train staff and develop procedures related to payroll systems and operations.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of leading end-to-end implementations and managing complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Payroll system management, control and ongoing operational support
  • Ensure timely, accurate and efficient Payroll processing by: Maintaining the Payroll System configuration and updates, Interface monitoring and management, Design and maintenance of Internal Controls (via role design, user rights, workflow setup), Documenting the Payroll processes, procedures and training materials, Maintaining ongoing information delivery and reporting (including statutory reporting), Monitoring and controlling Payroll data file transfers (import and export), Measuring and managing Payroll processes (e.g., error rates, cycle time), Identifying and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., process changes)
  • Functional Lead in Payroll-related projects: Support the design, testing, and implementation of Payroll-related projects (for locations in Canada and the United States) by participating in all phases of the project lifecycle including: Documenting the business, functional, and configuration requirements (current and future), Participating in the solution design and configuration, Building and testing the data mapping / migration tools and techniques, Participating in the planning and execution of Payroll testing (including Parallel Run testing)
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders: Build open, effective and collegial communications by working with: Other resources (at all levels) for locations in Canada and the United States (e.g., from Human Resources, Benefits, Payroll, Corporate Tax, Finance, and IT), Representatives from related solution providers to plan and deploy annual patches or enhancements (e.g., ADP, UKG, SAP, SuccessFactors), Third-Party (external) vendors providing support and implementation services
