About The Position

JLL is seeking an accomplished Senior Payroll Analyst to support Canadian payroll operations, drive compliance excellence, and implement process improvements. This role will involve working with cutting-edge HRIS technology, mentoring team members, and directly impacting the employee experience for JLL professionals across Canada. This position is ideal for a seasoned payroll professional who thrives on solving complex challenges and wants to leverage their expertise within a global organization. The role requires being in the office 3 days per week with flexibility to work remotely 2 days per week.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive Canadian payroll experience with demonstrated multi-provincial expertise, including complex scenario resolution and Quebec's distinct system.
  • PLP certification required.
  • Expert-level understanding of Canadian federal/provincial employment legislation, payroll regulations, and tax compliance.
  • Experience interpreting complex legislation and applying it to unique situations.
  • Strong experience with enterprise payroll systems (Workday, ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce).
  • Proven ability to configure systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and optimize functionality.
  • Expert Excel skills including pivot tables and advanced formulas.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, mentor team members, and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts to non-payroll audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with superior organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure while maintaining absolute discretion with confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Lead accurate, timely multi-provincial payroll processing across all Canadian provinces and territories, ensuring complete compliance with CPP, EI, and federal/provincial tax withholdings.
  • Oversee the full payroll lifecycle including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and complex off-cycle payments.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation including Employment Standards, CRA requirements, and Quebec-specific regulations (QPP, QPIP, CNESST).
  • Prepare and submit critical government filings including T4/T4A statements, ROEs, EHT returns, and WSIB reporting.
  • Lead audit preparations and identify compliance risks proactively.
  • Serve as the payroll system subject matter expert, driving automation, streamlining workflows, and championing best practices.
  • Lead system upgrades, integrations, and implementations in partnership with HR, Finance, and IT teams.
  • Handle complex escalated inquiries while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Partner with senior HR and Finance leadership on compensation strategy, budgeting, and workforce planning.
  • Generate sophisticated analytics for executive review including cost analysis, variance explanations, and trend forecasting.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior payroll staff.
  • Review work for accuracy, offer constructive feedback, and build team capability through documentation and knowledge sharing.
