About The Position

The Operations Senior Business Analyst supports data-informed planning, reporting, and operational decision-making across TSTC. This position serves as a senior technical individual contributor responsible for locating, refining, transforming, and presenting data in ways that support institutional priorities, required reporting, accreditation submissions, and operational improvement. The role works closely with users, project teams, and data stakeholders to gather requirements, evaluate system capabilities, propose solutions, and translate technical specifications into clear information for end users. The Operations Senior Business Analyst contributes specialized expertise across the data-to-presentation pipeline while supporting accuracy, alignment, regulatory awareness, and continuous improvement in service to the College’s mission. Hiring Range is $75,643.83 - $86,990.40 USD Annual. The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Equivalent combination of education, training and relevant professional experience will be considered.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in data analysis, business intelligence, reporting, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with SQL Server or a similar database platform.
  • Experience with development technologies, including JavaScript and HTML.
  • Experience with reporting to outside agencies.
  • Experience using formulas in Excel.
  • Experience with workflow scripting in whiteboard applications.
  • Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education where appropriate and consistent with TSTC's equivalency philosophy.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Power Query, including M and DAX, and Power BI.
  • Data warehouse experience, such as Azure or a similar platform.
  • Data Fabric experience, such as Microsoft Fabric or a similar system.
  • Programming experience in Java, Python, or a similar object-oriented language.
  • ERP reporting experience with Workday or a similar enterprise system.
  • Experience with calculated fields in a reporting system.
  • Experience working with APIs.
  • Experience using AI tools to learn new applications and systems and to accelerate work.

Responsibilities

  • Locates, refines, cleans, and transforms data into usable datasets that support operational reporting, institutional planning, and decision-making.
  • Presents data in a clear and straightforward way for end users, ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and aligned with business needs.
  • Supports required reporting, including IPEDS, THECB, and accreditor submissions, with a focus on accuracy, alignment, and meaningful institutional insight.
  • Applies technical knowledge of SQL Server or similar database platforms, JavaScript, HTML, Excel formulas, workflow scripting, Power Query, Power BI, and related reporting tools to develop and support data solutions.
  • Works across the full data-to-presentation pipeline, including locating source data, refining and cleaning information, transforming data into usable formats, and supporting dashboards or reporting outputs that help users understand and act on information.
  • Facilitates sessions with users to gather requirements, cross-reference needs with the capabilities of data systems, and propose practical solutions.
  • Serves as a bridge between data and end users by translating technical specifications into straightforward language that supports understanding and adoption.
  • Works independently when needed and collaborates with project team members across the institution during high-priority or “all hands on deck” projects.
  • Manages multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously while maintaining strong ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Adjusts requirements and solutions based on stakeholder feedback while considering existing business processes, current systems, institutional priorities, and emerging technology trends.
  • Demonstrates effective time management, self-direction, and independent problem-solving in support of timely and accurate work delivery.
  • Ensures reporting processes align with broader data strategy, institutional priorities, and applicable regulatory expectations.
  • Maintains awareness of reporting and compliance requirements and helps translate those requirements into meaningful insights for the College.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve reporting processes, data tools, workflows, and user support while continuing to learn new skills, technologies, applications, systems, and frameworks that strengthen the effectiveness of the role.
