About The Position

Wave Life Sciences USA seeks a highly motivated Discovery IT Business partner to join our Information Technology team in Cambridge and Lexington Massachusetts. This role partners with all areas of Discovery to drive new technology & automation solutions, expand current Discovery Informatics capabilities and ensure operational excellence. This individual will participate in an agile based, team-oriented, fast-paced, and cross-disciplinary biotech/IT environment. This role is a great opportunity at the intersection of Discovery, Data Science, and IT to contribute to building a vision for the Wave lab of the future. This position will report to the Senior Director, Discovery IT and will be a key member of the IT operations team, DS/IT steering committee and various SONAR (Wave’s Discovery Informatics Platform) teams.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degrees in Information Management/Technology, Computer Science required. Graduate degrees and/or Discovery Science degrees (Chemistry, Biology) highly preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in Pharmaceutical/Biotech companies; 5 years’ experience working in Discovery required.
  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience as an IT business analyst or R&D product specialist required.
  • Experience with Discovery systems including eLNB, compound registration, pipeline tools, inventory management and lab automation required.
  • Experience leading projects and/or Discovery business teams required.
  • Working knowledge of FDA, EMA regulations such as Annex 11, 21 CFR Part 11, Part 210, 211; Computer Systems Validation and GAMP framework required.

Nice To Haves

  • The individual should be able to function in an agile, dynamic environment, and be able to rapidly adapt to new technologies.
  • Prior experience with cloud-based technologies, AWS preferred; experience with analytics and pipelining technologies preferred.
  • Prior IT experience in Pharma/Biotech lab and/or manufacturing would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • IT Business Partner for Biology, Data Sciences, Lab Systems, Medicinal Chemistry, Translational, Research Pharmacology, Process Development Preclinical and Process Engineering.
  • Product owner for critical lab informatics systems (Dotmatics, CLIMB, Lab Voice) managing the full lifecycle from initial requirements gathering through production deployment, operations, updates, minor and major upgrades and retirement.
  • Lead new Discovery technology projects including lab automation, SDMS, robotics, non-clinical/tox/biology data lakes. Partner with Sr Directors of GXP and Discovery on LIMS program.
  • Lead change management efforts for major platform upgrades and new technology rollouts within Discovery, including communication planning, user enablement, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Facilitate training sessions, knowledge sharing, and onboarding workshops to increase user adoption and maximize ROI on new Discovery IT investments.
  • Oversee technology support activities for key research systems. Ensure Tier 1 through 3 ticket management and execution managing MSP support teams.
  • As the IT Business Partner for Discovery, create stories for eLNB or business process-based data (reagent, inventory, laboratory) capture and management by gathering requirements and interactions with Wave Discovery Business Users. Work with the SONAR Product Manager to prioritize stories and SONAR development team to clarify the technical vision of stories for the ultimate delivery of product to the User.
  • Partners with Scrum and Kanban teams to coordinate roadmap development, initiatives and continuous system improvements.
  • Issue monthly compliance, progress, and operational reports; ensure follow up and escalation as appropriate.
  • Lead or co-lead cross-functional Discovery/IT initiatives such as scientific workflow digitization, FAIR data implementation, or research capacity scaling.
  • Maintain awareness of state-of-the-art Discovery Informatics activities, industry trends, problem solving techniques and computing practices.
  • Coordinate software upgrades with key vendors and managed service partners
  • Identify opportunities for Wave to further leverage data to improve its economic, competitive, and operational positioning.
  • Establish controls for ensuring efficient and effective data gathering from our scientific experiments and assays.
  • Advocate for and champion a data-driven culture, supporting related competencies and data literacy across IT and Wave.
